Taekwondo

Jade is a passionate and dedicated Taekwondo practitioner and instructor who entered the martial art world as a 9-year-old when Taekwondo was primarily dominated by men, and not tailored to children’s bodies or strength capacities.  

By the age of 17, Jade accomplished  the of earning her Black Belt and began assisting in teaching classes, sharing her knowledge and skills with others. Soon after, she played a crucial role in setting up a new Taekwondo club in Heidelberg under Martin Hall’s guidance, gaining valuable experience in establishing a successful business.

At 18, Jade’s family opened the first Halls Taekwondo franchise, where she continued her teaching journey while managing the front office. One of 6 Black Belts in the Vere-Flint family she taught with her siblings Zackary and Kendall, with her Father the Head Instructor.  One of the most rewarding aspects of her work was conducting programs in schools, where she empowered students of all ages. From combatting bullying among younger students to helping VCE students manage stress and emotions.

A significant highlight in her Taekwondo journey was a memorable trip to Korea in 2006. Accompanied by 22 club members, her black belt siblings and Dan her father 7th Dan Master.  The group had the opportunity to train with 9th Dan Grand Masters at the Kukkiwon, the World Taekwondo Headquarters. A dream come true for Jade, this experience left an indelible mark on her martial arts journey.

Throughout her career, Jade’s dedication and expertise were recognized when she was nominated as the Taekwondo New Zealand (TNZ) Poomse Director of the Upper North Island for Taekwondo New Zealand in 2018. This prestigious position allowed her to conduct Taekwondo clinics for instructors in the region, further enhancing her influence within the martial arts community.

After 35 years, in a testament to her commitment and impact on the sport, Jade was earned her 7th Dan, a momentous honor and achievement that she never thought she would attain. However, she considers her most significant accomplishment in Taekwondo to be witnessing her young 4-year-old students grow, achieve their goals, and eventually earn their Black Belts. This emotional journey highlighted the importance of her role as an instructor, guiding not only their physical training but also nurturing their mental and spiritual development to become empowered individuals in the world.

As a true role model, Jade’s journey in Taekwondo has been characterized by breaking barriers, empowering others, and leaving a lasting legacy in the martial arts community.
